Prepaid pass or subscription: which should you pick?

Last updated July 28, 2026

Both plan types run on the same platform and include the same features: the same server, the same 20 player slots, the same backups. The only difference is how time gets onto your account.

Prepaid passes

A pass gives your server a fixed period of availability. You pay once, and that's the whole transaction: nothing renews, so there's nothing to cancel. When the pass runs out, your server is paused and your world stays stored.

Pick a pass if you play in bursts — a short-term project with friends, a month of a fresh survival world, or you just want to try Chunklink without committing to anything.

Monthly subscription

The subscription renews every month, so your server is simply always available and you never think about adding more time.

You can cancel anytime from your dashboard. Your server keeps running to the end of the period you already paid for, then it is paused like an expired pass. There is no cancellation fee or advance-notice requirement.

Pick the subscription if your server is in regular use and running out of time mid-session would annoy you more than a monthly renewal does.

Switching between the two

You can move freely in both directions. When a pass runs out, start a subscription instead of buying the next pass. Going the other way, stop the auto-renewal first: prepaid passes can't be bought while a subscription is still set to renew, so cancel in the dashboard and add prepaid time once the paid period ends.

Current prices for both are on the pricing page.
